Valorant star Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo has explained why his four-year relationship with Sentinels has finally come to an end.
Over the years, there have been a number of esports athletes who have become synonymous with one team. It is hard to see s1mple in anything other than a Natus Vincere jersey, Shroud and n0thing were always key pillars on Cloud9, while Scump is OpTic Gaming through and through.
After signing with Sentinels in 2021, TenZ had very much been thrust into that category too. He’d joined for a massive fee, led the team to multiple Valorant Masters titles, and became the must-beat team in the United States.
Despite retiring from competing in September 2024, it seemed as if TenZ would never leave Sentinels and would stick around as a content creator. However, as of May 8, the former pro has revealed he is no longer contracted with them.
TenZ speaks on leaving Sentinels after 4-year stint
“I am officially not contractually with Sentinels anymore. Obviously, it might come as a shock to a few. Yeah, I mean, we’re just turning a new page in the book,” TenZ told viewers during his May 8 stream.
“Obviously, Sentinels has been f**king family for my entire duration in Valorant. I’ve had some of the most amazing memories at Sentinels. We won a couple of trophies, pretty legit in my opinion. Obviously, we’re still going to have the Sentinels bias.
“I’ll always support them at the end of the day, both the players and the organization,” he added. “They didn’t take my keys away for the office. We can still do content and stuff. It’s pretty chill, it’s definitely a new page in the book, for sure.”

The streamer was quizzed on whether he’ll stay “solo” for a while, but noted he has some “really exciting stuff” in the works.
“Some very, very exciting stuff. We’ll see that then, but for now, solo dolo,” he concluded.
